Abstract
This study investigated how the Index to Close Case of Elder Abuse (ICCEA), which was developed in 2013, has been used by case workers in Elder Protective Service Agencies (EPSA) and explored their experiences and views of the ICCEA. In 2015, twenty six EPSA managers were asked about using the ICCEA via survey, and in-depth individual interviews with nine case workers was conducted. Descriptive statistics of survey data were reported and thematic analysis was conducted for qualitative data. Results showed that 65% of agency was using the ICCEA and 38.5% judged the ICCEA as useful. Five themes were discovered as a result of thematic analysis£º¨ç misunderstanding and confusion surrounding using the ICCEA, ¨è useful application of the ICCEA, ¨é problems and limitations of the ICCEA, ¨ê complaints of filling in the ICCEA and subjectivity issues of scoring, and ¨ë contrasting opinions of using the recommended follow-up guidelines after applying the ICCEA. Based on the results, methodological, and theoretical issues were addressed and implications of policy and practice for prevention of elder abuse were discussed.
